Art Pavilions along the Hangpu River
Taranta Creations has designed a series of art pavilions along the Hangpu river. When the pavilions are finally finished, they will facilitate and support a diversity of typical Chinese activities that take place in parks.
Kodikodi Architecture - Sandwich house, Tokyo 2009 (click images for big). A family house in a dense urban setting that aims to recreate rural living. The design is based off of an image of the client’s childhood home on the country side, which featured a typical plot of a yard situated between the main house and a rear shed. Two large walls brace the structure on either side and offer privacy from the neighboring buildings. Internally, a small wooden house-within-a-house, programmed as a living area, is suspended in between the walls and acts as the “shed.” A stair connects it to a larger concrete volume containing the sleeping areas, representing the “main house.” The interstitial area in between the two volumes becomes the “yard,” and is a double height space flooded with natural light. Openings on the two adjacent volumes allow for communication between all areas of the house. This clever appropriation of rural characteristics offers the client a sense of familiarity and nostalgia, while simultaneously creating a contemporary space for urban living. Via.

Roadmap 2050: AMO
Se a Los Angeles nello studio di Frank Gehry si continua a giocare con cartone e polistirolo, confinando i temi del design sostenibile a mere questioni politiche, a Rotterdam da OMA non si scherza.
Rem Koolhaas e AMO, la think tank dell’ Office for Metropolitan Architecture, sognano e pianificano per Roadmap 2050 un Europa che potrebbe ridurre dell’80% le proprie emissioni entro il 2050.
Eneropa è la mappa del vecchio continente ripartito non più secondo confini politici, ma in aree con le stesse sorgenti di energie rinnovabili. Solaria, Hydropia, Geothermalia, Biomassburg sarebbero alcuni dei nomi delle nuove nazioni.
Il progetto è in linea con la proposta fatta nel 2002 per una nuova bandiera europea, un codice a barre con tutte la bandiere nazionali affiancate. Diversità e unità.
Interconnesioni smart grid e network di trasporti internazionali sono altri punti alla base del progetto di Roadmap 2050.
